Eagle blue, week 7, post 2

"...A highschool student showing such thuggish disrespect for an adult-there should be absolutely no tolerence for such behavior- not in a setting like this, not when these kids are representing their schools, their communities, their tribes." (268).

This quote is significant to Eagle Blue in several ways. One way it is significant is that it shows the respect of this team. Dave is appalled when the kid from the other team comes over and uses sass with him. His team knows better and Dave knows that they would never do such a thing. To me, this seems like a very unsportsmanlike thing to do. The kid from the other team should have just kept his mouth shut, and let it go. In order to win games, you need to be not only a good athlete, but also have a good attitude. This obviously wasn’t the case. Fort Yukon went on to win that game, due to their good sportsmanship, determination, and athletic ability. This goes the same for life, in general. For example, in the work place, if you have a good attitude about things, you will accomplish so much more than if you spend time moping and thinking how miserable this is, etc. The same goes for schoolwork. If you are determined and have a good attitude, you will be able to do better quality work, and in return get good grades. If you don’t do anything and just mope about how much work the assignment is, etc, you will most likely have poor quality work, and not get the grades you are expecting/ wanting. To sum up, having a good attitude/ good sportsmanship, are determined, and have a good attitude, you will be able to accomplish so much more in life, and will have more friends
